Background

The feedback we often receive from owners is that they would like to see more transparency from the elected Strata Council. We use this opportunity to encourage nomination at the next AGM however should you want to increase communication in the strata community, here are some ideas:

  • Uploading council meeting minutes to the owners portal (check out Jordan's Look up Strata response on this subject here)
  • Inclusion of a council report within the AGM documents
  • Creating a newsletter - quarterly may work best
  • Facebook community page (have council members set to admins and create rules for the group)

Ideas for topics to include in your communication to owners

  • Introducing the council members and their positions, if applicable
  • Confirming the number of times the council meets
  • Discussing any disputes and outcomes
  • Discussing other matters that may affect lot owners or residents
  • Outlining short, medium or long-term goals
  • A reminder of any by-laws that may be a common issue among residents
  • Confirmation of any Strata Company procedures such as Pet Application through the Strata Managers website
  • Update of any completed items of the Annual General Meeting
  • Notification of any projects or works that are in progress
  • Notice of any disturbance such as Fire alarm testing
  • Lobbying for new Council members to join the committee, where appropriate
